Professor Dr. Nazmun Nahar, P.Eng., FIEB joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at North South University (NSU) in Fall 2013. After graduating from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dr. Nahar joined Purdue University, and earned a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Dr. Nahar is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of British Columbia, Canada. She has over twenty years of experience in research, teaching and consulting in North America and Bangladesh. Her areas of expertise include integrated watershed management, stormwater management and planning, urban drainage, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. At NSU, she is actively involved in research on industrial water management, water and soil quality and green building. In 2021, she published a journal article in the ‘Water Resources and Industry’ (vol 25) and the title was “Industrial Water Management and Sustainability: Development of SIWP Tool for Textile Industries of Bangladesh”.
Her other works on green roof, impact of brick kilns on soil, surface water quality and rainwater management were also presented in national and international conferences. Dr. Nahar is currently serving as the Coordinator (Academic) for the International Water Association (IWA) Bangladesh Chapter. Since 2016, Dr. Nahar is the Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of North South University.
In last 6 years, she has developed keen interest in higher education quality and has initiated research on different aspects of higher education.
One of her recent works entitled “Measure of Student Engagement in Higher Education: An Update on Context Specific Scale Adaptation” has been submitted to ‘Research in Higher Education’, a Springer publication.
