I am Dr. Minati Adhikary, Associate Professor and head, department of Community Medicine, Dhaka Medical College(Ex). As a person I am very down to earth, caring and have respect for relationship, individual and family values with high morals. I love reading, writing and teaching. I completed my graduation in Medicine through the Dhaka University and passed MBBS in1979. I started my professional life as a Medical Officer at Thana Health Complex (THC). I served rural community of Bangladesh while working at Primary Health Care setting (THC) at different Subdistricts of Bangladesh. Meanwhile I began studying for an MPH at National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) Bangladesh under Dhaka University. I got my MPH (Community Medicine) degree in 1997. This Master degree in Public Health on top of my MBBS allowed me to work in different medical colleges as a teacher of Community Medicine (22 yrs). During my professional life I have been attached with several daily news papers. I have to my credit 20 publications on health in national Medical journals and over 200 articles on different health issues published in national dailies. Three books written by me have been published named “Shishur Sasthya ebong Apnar Koronio”; “Modhyo Boisi Narir Sasthya Somosya”; “Puberty and Health” based on child health problem and care, menopausal health and teen psychology respectively. A short story book named “Roudrochya” is now available in “Omor Ekushe Mela”. A drama based on my story “Pushing Sale” is made and shown by Boishakhi Television during Eid-Ul- Fitre. I worked as the principal investigator in a project based on IYCF (Infant and Young Child Feeding) at Sreepur Upozila under Gazipur district and several other community based projects.
